For nearly a decade, CalMutuals has proudly offered our online AB 54/AB 240 Ethics Training, providing a convenient way to meet California’s ethics training requirements. The training is designed to help directors understand the ethical and legal responsibilities of serving on a mutual water company board while utilizing transparency, accountability, and sound decision-making in service to the shareholders and communities they represent.

Over the years, the course has become one of CalMutuals’ most valued member resources, helping hundreds of directors build the knowledge and confidence needed to serve their shareholders while conveniently satisfying California’s ethics training requirement.

The course was recently updated by CalMutuals General Counsel Jim Ciampa, a partner with Lagerlof LLP, whose water law practice has long focused on the unique needs of California’s small water systems. Jim incorporated important legislative changes, including new legal and regulatory requirements, helping ensure directors have practical, up-to-date guidance.

California law requires mutual water company directors to complete AB 54/AB 240 ethics training within six months of joining a board of directors and to renew their certification every six years.

One of the many benefits of CalMutuals membership is making quality training accessible and affordable. Members receive complimentary access to the American Water College (AWC) online course catalog.

Whether you’re taking the course for the first time or renewing your certification, we’re here to help. If you’d like access to the updated ethics training or the AWC course catalog, please contact Ceili at ceili@calmutuals.org.
