Adan Ortega, Executive Director, California Association of Mutual Water Companies discusses “right-sizing” water solutions for small water systems at the recent ribbon cutting for Box Springs Mutual Water Company’s new 1.3-million-gallon water storage reservoir.
What would you say to other small water systems who are watching this or learning about this project today?
Well, this is right-sizing in practice. There’s a lot of solutions being put out around California when it comes to safe drinking water.
The first stop is typically consolidations. And that can take five to seven years to complete. And in the meantime, people still need their safe drinking water.
This is an example where the state or one state department was willing to work with local entities to right-size a solution for a small water system in a growing area. So I think that’s good news for small water systems. I think it helps to pair with your larger water systems.
And if you want some advice on how to pair with a large water system, you ought to call CalMutuals.
Thank you.
